Why was I charged twice when purchasing?Updated 8 months ago
The double charge you see on your bank account is likely an authorization hold. This is a common practice used by banks to ensure that there are sufficient funds available for your transaction.
An authorization hold, also known as a card authorization or pre-authorization, temporarily sets aside the transaction amount from your account balance. This amount remains on hold until the merchant completes the transaction (known as settlement) or until the hold is released. When the hold is released, the funds become available in your account again.
For debit cards, authorization holds usually fall off within 1–5 days after the transaction, depending on your bank’s policy. For credit cards, the hold can last up to 30 days, depending on the issuing bank.
If you still see the authorization hold after this period, please contact your bank or payment provider. If they confirm that a duplicate charge has occurred, ask them to provide an official bank letter. You can then share this with us, and we'll investigate the issue and work to resolve it as quickly as possible.
